Just hours before their season opener GSW is still having to worry about their roster. While the team got great news this week that their superstar, Stephen Curry, would be good to go Wednesday evening against the Los Angeles Lakers. The franchise however, doesn’t have a positive development regarding their center. The Golden State Warriors have now started exploring trade routes for Kristaps Porzingis, who is now seriously contemplating his future in basketball.
So then, the Warriors find themselves back manning the phones. Kristaps Porzingis is considering retirement while dealing with an autoimmune disease. However, Golden State will attempt to trade him. Exploring trades using his nearly expiring contract; but the franchise may have an uphill battle on their hands since the player in question is seriously contemplating stepping away from basketball — for good.
ESPN’s NBA insider, Shams Charania, reported on the latest regarding Porzingis and the Warriors organization. Charania reveals,
“Golden State has started exploring trade routes for Kristaps Porzingis, who is now seriously contemplating his future in basketball as he deals with recurring symptoms from the autoimmune condition termed as POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), sources tell ESPN.
Porzingis is on a trade-flexible contract for $20 million this season and a small partial next year, serving as essentially an expiring deal that the Warriors can utilize, potentially with their pool of assets. He first revealed his POTS diagnosis last year and has had ups and downs with the issue. If there is no breakthrough in recovery, stepping away from basketball — for good — is possible.”

As Porzingis continues to consider his future in basketball due to lingering effects of an autoimmune condition; Golden State will do its best to move forward. While numerous teams may not lining up to get involved. There are some players and team the Warriors have their eye on. One in particular are the Milwaukee Bucks.
According to reports, the Warriors reached out to the Bucks for Myles Turner in a potential swap involving Kristaps Porzingis. Turner fits the same big archetype Golden State was hoping Porzingis would provide. Milwaukee shopped Turner this offseason to little interest. Sam Amick of the New York Times confirmed, “[the] Warriors have contacted [the] Bucks about a potential Kristaps Porzingis trade, but Milwaukee is not believed to have any interest.”
