The best hitters in the league converged upon Citizens Bank Park to crown the king of the bat. It may have started with eight contenders but it would be whittled down to just one. After two rounds and a Final a victor was decided. The Cardinals Jordan Walker Wins the 2026 MLB All-Stars Home Run Derby.

Now remember this year the format has changed. There is no clock to beat. Each competitor has a certain amount of swings each round and the individuals with the most dingers move on.

But just as a refresher, here is how the 2026 Home Run Derby format works:

  • No timer and no “outs”
  • Round 1: 20 swings
  • Round 2: 15 swings
  • Finals: 15 swings
  • Each swing counts toward a player’s allotment, homer or not
  • If you homer on your last swing in any round, you keep going until you do not homer
  • There is no bonus round and there is no “bracket” for the first round
  • Tiebreakers: HR Distance (Round 1); three-swing swing-offs (Rounds 2 and 3)

Now, that we got the rules down, let’s get to the action. Well, Willson Contreras and Jordan Walker got the Derby party started. Dazzling the audience by hitting 13 home runs a piece in the first round.

Then, the Royals hot bat stepped up to the plate. Jac Caglianone was very impressive! He hit some MASSIVE homers with enormous distances electrifying the crowds; but unfortunately he could not hit a groove. Caglianone ends up behind the first two Home Run Derby leaders with 8 home runs.

Next up, the Chicago White Sox rookie put on a show like Jac. Obliterating ball after ball once in rhythm. But unfortunately the rhythm hit too late. Munetaka Murakami ends his batting performance with 9 home runs in the first round of the Home Run Derby.

Ben Rice was another player to share a nice moment with his father (Jac’s father also pitched to Caglianone). Rice’s dad pitched to Ben, but unfortunately the pair never found a good pace and harmony. Rice was getting jammed and his swing at times was too long. In the end, Rice could only manage 7 homers.

Wrapping up the first round were three power batters, Junior Caminero and Phillies’ teammates Bryce Harper as well as Kyle Schwarber. Caminero hit 12 home runs, as Schwarber blasts 10 home runs eliminating Harper and his 9 home runs.

Only four could move on to the semifinal. The four competitors to head to round two included: Willson Contreras, Jordan Walker, Junior Caminero and Kyle Schwarber. They were then split into two groups. With Schwarber facing off against Contreras and Walker going against Caminero.

Walker would edge out Caminero (5) with 6 home runs. Kyle Schwarber got some home field advantage cheers hitting 9 homers. As Contreras received some well-timed Philly boos keeping him at 8 home runs.

So then, the big stage was set. The Final would be Philadelphia’s own Kyle Schwarber versus the Cardinals Jordan Walker. Schwarber came out SWINGING! Knocking 11 baseballs out of 15 swings right out the park. Would Walker match energy? Could Jordan pull off an upset in front of the intense Philly home crowd?

YES HE DOES! Jordan was down 3 homers; down to his last swing and needed a miracle to continue and it occurred. He homered on each of his last 6 swings. Which is what it took to beat and surpass the great Schwarber. Absolute CINEMA. Congratulations to Jordan (he also has won $1,000,000 as the 2026 Home Run Derby champion); this year’s Derby definitely delivered.
