Atlanta Falcons Made Bijan Robinson Highest-Paid Running Back with New Extension
It’s a tough way to make a living but there have been plenty of guys over the years who have done it. However, now they are finally getting the money they deserve to play such a demanding role. The Atlanta Falcons have made Bijan Robinson the highest-paid running back with a new extension. He’s been a bright spot on the offense since the Falcons have had issues at quarterback. Robinson has been both dependable and productive on the offensive side of the ball.
He was going to play on his fifth-year option in 2027 which the Falcons had picked up in early April. But he now has a new contract extension which will keep him with the team for another three years. Quoting sources, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted about the extension:
“ESPN sources: Two-time Pro-Bowl selection Bijan Robinson and the Falcons reached agreement on a three-year extension worth up to $75 million that now will make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history. Robinson will receive a record $51 million guaranteed, including $37 million at signing, in a deal that agent Nicole Lynn and the Falcons have been working hard on to finish up in recent days.”
The Falcons drafted him No. 8 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and he has been a dynamic force for the team. In three seasons with the Falcons, he has 3,910 yards on the ground and 1,738 receiving yards making him a dual threat. He’s also a 2x Pro Bowler and a First-Team All-Pro (2025). Last season he led the league in all-purpose yards and was a finalist for Offensive Player of the Year.

But just because he’s now the top paid running back doesn’t mean he plans on taking it easy. Rather it’s just the opposite as he said earlier this year: “Like I say every year, I am just trying to be better than the last year, in all aspects of my game,” Robinson said. “My leadership, my faith, everything, who I am as a person. I am just trying to be a lot better than I was the year before, even when it comes to my goals on the field, off the field.”
However, looking toward the future, he said: “I am pretty excited, even just with how I feel,” Robinson said. “They always say, like, (these are) your prime years, but I really feel like this is the best I have felt my whole time being here.”
Last season Robinson had one of the greatest single season performances in all of league history. And he’s looking to do even more this season. Congratulations to him on his brand-new extension!
