Angel Reese’s Historic Performance Leads Atlanta Dream to WNBA Finals Game 3 Victory
From this day onwards, the “A” in Atlanta now stands for ANGEL REESE. On Wednesday night she hyped herself up, hyped her team up and had the home crowd in a frenzy. Thus, creating an atmosphere that took the Golden State Valkyries completely out of rhythm. Yes, Angel Reese’s historic performance led Atlanta Dream to a WNBA Finals Game 3 victory.
Reese has certainly put the Dream on her back. Last night she recorded an impressive 21 points and 12 rebounds. Helping Atlanta take a commanding 2-1 lead in the championship series. Angel Reese is now closing in on adding a Finals MVP trophy to go alongside her DPOY trophy, college National Championship trophy, NCAA Tournament MOP trophy. And oh yeah, a FIBA World Cup gold medal.
Nonetheless, Reese has done all of this in style. By making history. And the legacy only became more cemented in Game 3.
Angel Reese is now the youngest player (24 years & 168 days) in WNBA Finals history with three straight double-doubles. Furthermore, Angel Reese is now the youngest player in WNBA Finals history to record 20 + points and 10 + rebounds in consecutive games. Reese joins A’ja Wilson as the only players to achieve this milestone in consecutive Finals games. Lastly, she is the ONLY and first player in WNBA history to record a double-double in each of her first three Finals games.
Angel Reese discussed with the media her energy shift as well as her intensity as the Finals have progressed. Reese stated,
“I kind of wanted to set myself apart, going into the game where I wanted to win before anybody else could think about it. And it’s like a mental game for me. Trying to set my energy higher than anybody can even reach your touch.
And my teammates know this, and I get crazy in a good way sometimes, and just trying to be contagious as much as I can and bringing every single night.”

After defeating the Golden State Valkyries 71-97 on Wednesday night, Angel Reese had another confident message. No one wants it more than her and her team. Atlanta is here to snatch the title.
Angel told the press, “When you have a mentality that, starting for me where I’m hyped all the time, bringing the confidence into everybody, y’all not taking this from us. And that’s in my heart. That’s kind of been my mindset throughout the entire season, just being able to want it more than anybody else.”
