Aaron Rodgers and Steelers Have Reached Agreement on One-Year Deal

Reunited and for this coach and QB it feels so good. They worked together back in Green Bay and won a championship together. And now years later they get to compete together again in Pittsburgh. On Saturday, it was confirmed that Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers now have reached agreement on a one-year deal. Meaning Rodgers will now join head coach Mike McCarthy for the 2026-2027 season. Ironically, Rodgers and McCarthy won Super Bowl XLV together in Green Bay vs. the Steelers in 2011.

After achieving a winning season with the Steelers last season going 10-7. Rodgers had a choice to make, retire or run it back. After some offseason rest and personal deliberation Rodgers decided that he wanted to give it one last ride. The four time NFL MVP now has a deal to return with the hopes of going much further in the postseason than just a first round exit. Now entering his 22nd NFL season, Rodgers reunites with Mike McCarthy for one more run in Pittsburgh.

Aaron Rodgers and Steelers Have Reached Agreement on One-Year Deal

NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news regarding Rodgers and the Pittsburgh organization by stating,

“Sources: Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers now have reached agreement on a one-year deal. Rodgers officially is reuniting with the Steelers and their new head coach Mike McCarthy for the 2026 season.

Compensation update: Aaron Rodgers is expected to sign a one-year deal worth up to $25 million, per sources. The deal is expected to include a base salary between $22 and $23 million, with up to a few million more in incentives.

The deal still needs to be finalized and signed.”

Furthermore, 42-year-old Aaron had said that he would not take as long as before to make a decision on whether or not he will play. And he kept his word. As Schefter reports, “The Steelers voluntary offseason practice sessions begin Monday and Aaron Rodgers is expected to be there. Rodgers didn’t commit to the Steelers last year until their mandatory minicamp in June. This year he will be there earlier.”

Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have won 107 games together including the playoffs, the 9th most by any head coach-starting QB duo in the Super Bowl Era (since 1966). McCarthy spent 13 seasons as head coach of the Packers, including Rodgers’ first 11 seasons as a starting QB from 2008-18. We will see what type of magic this pair can create again on the field this upcoming season.
