Timberwolves Coach Chris Finch Says Clips On Warriors Fouling Gobert Sent to League

Anyone who watched the Houston versus Golden State series saw some serious NFL style tackling, pushing, slaps and even tough injuries. So then, if any organizations should have room for complaint, you would think it would be one of those two in particular. Yet, interestingly it is a franchise from round two making the most noise. After GSW stole game one without Steph Curry, the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch says that clips on the Warriors fouling Rudy Gobert have been sent to the league.

Yes, after game one’s conclusion Coach Finch let his frustration be known to the media. Regarding his observations on the Warriors, Chris says, “On defensive rebounding they do a lot of fouling, holding, shoving, pushing and tackling Rudy [Gobert]. That’s clear. We sent a bunch of those clips into the league. In fact, I’m not sure I know another player with Rudy’s pedigree that is allowed to be physically beaten on the way he is.”

However, it is not just Golden State that Chris Finch has called out over the matter of fouls. Back in February, during an after game press conference Finch mentioned that the Oklahoma City Thunder were guilty of generating numerous fouls during games. Coach Finch stated,

It’s so frustrating to play this team because they foul a ton… they foul all the time. And then you can’t really touch Shai. It’s a very frustrating thing, and it takes a lot of mental toughness to play through it.”

Nevertheless, some of the Wolves players have another theory as to what caused them to go down immediately in the playoffs round two series. Donte DiVincenzo revealed to the press, “We weren’t ready. We played like shit. We need to respond on Thursday.”

DiVincenzo is not wrong. Minnesota did not look like a well-oiled machine. They missed A LOT of shots and their defense completely disappeared. Of course, we can’t foresee the Timberwolves shooting so poorly for the rest of this series. However, it is worth nothing that they themselves know they must play much better. And to coach Finch’s credit, especially when it comes to player accountability; he also called out Anthony Edwards. Regarding Ant Finch says, “You’re the leader of the team. You have to come out and set the tone.”

So then, fouls or not, the Wolves have to perform more efficiently. There’s still plenty of series left. Therefore, we will soon see how they rebound after just one loss.
