Texans Joined In The Fray Announcing New Uniforms
No sooner had the Denver Broncos unveiled their new uniforms than another team followed suit. Today the Houston Texans joined in the fray by announcing their new uniforms. With all these new uniforms being created, I hope we fans will be able to recognize our favorite teams! But all jokes aside, the new uniforms appear to be paying homage to the team’s history and city. So they are a blend of old and new, modernizing a classic look so that the team identity is still intact.
The Texans have a hype video on their team website that should get Texans fans riled up. And they also released some interesting bullet points regarding their new color rush uniforms. A few are listed below:
- Houston’s own H-Town Blue introduced as an official accent color
- Unique, H-Town Blue-inspired Texans bullhead logo colorway
- New H logo on the back of the uniform
- First new secondary logo introduced on a helmet in NFL history
And of course they will have their home, away, and alternate uniforms. The home jersey features an updated Deep Steel Blue color with a draped collar inspired by the Texas flag. Whereas the helmet will also be Deep Steel Blue with the traditional bull logo on both sides and the new H secondary logo on on the back. For the alternate uniform it will be Bold Battle Red alternate of the Liberty White uniform. A red metallic chrome facemask will adorn the Battle Red helmet. The helmet will also have a bullhorn-inspired helmet logo application.
Last but not least is the Away uniform. It features the traditional sleeve stripe on back and sides which transform into a bullhorn-inspired design from the front. Along with an H-Town call-out, the result is a traditional design with a modern edge.

Doug Vosik, Senior VP Marcomm & Ticket Sales, said the process started, “Almost two years ago from a uniform perspective. CEO and Chair Tom McNair, he really set a new vision for the company. He went out internally and said ‘how can we evolve to become the new Texans? How do we fearlessly evolve, how do we change, and how do we do it fast?'” Consulting with the community and fans was a part of the process.
Now with the new uniforms, the Texans believe they have captured the spirit of the fans, the city and the organization. With the bold red and blue colors, Houston is clearly saying, “Don’t mess with Texas!” We’ll see if the new look keeps them on a winning path.
