Rob Gronkowski Throws First Pitch at Red Sox Game

There’s been some very fun athletic sightings at MLB games this season. For instance, Simone Biles and her NFL husband were spied at a recent White Sox game. And the Kansas City Royals kicked off their season with multiple Super Bowls champ Andy Reid. However, now Boston is getting in on all the fun vibes. They invited one of the most energetic and entertaining NFL players of all time to their stadium. Hopefully, you got to see Rob Gronkowski throw the first pitch at the Red Sox game on Monday, April 15th.

The first ceremonial pitch is a big deal and a major honor in baseball. These pitches have been occurring for over 100 years. At least since the early 1900’s; with some historians strongly believing the 1890’s. Nonetheless, many people of note get to toss the ball from the pitcher’s mound. From its inception a mayor, governor, or other locally notable individuals have gotten the nod. In 1910 President Taft threw a first pitch and in 1962 JFK also joined the first pitch club. Just to name a few.

Yet, today is all about Rob Gronkowski. Rob hit the mound looking very ready and prepared. He wound up like a Pro, then spiked the baseball like a football in the end zone! The crowd went wild.

Gronk’s former quarterback and best friend, Tom Brady was extremely proud and happy to see Rob in action today in Boston. He took to social media immediately after Gronk’s antics from the field started making its rounds. Tom states,

“Love seeing that Gronk spike!!!”

So do we Tom. So do we. That signature spike is something many NFL enthusiasts got to witness week after week throughout Rob’s 11-year career. Ending with 90+ touchdowns, 621 receptions, and over 9,200 yards.

Nonetheless, if you are wondering about the major league baseball game itself. Unfortunately, Gronk’s bigger than life presence was not enough to rally the troops. The Red Sox fell in battle to the Cleveland Guardians, 6-0.

However, Boston is still above .500. They are 9-8 and at the time of this posting (some games have not finished); in a 3-way tie for second place in their division with the Orioles and Rays. So then, with way more baseball to go this season; there’s no reason to panic yet in Red Sox country.
