Philadelphia Eagles FIRST Team in NFL History to Have 10+ Games Against Playoff Teams From Previous Season

Well, during Super Bowl LIX an estimated 127.7 million viewers in the United States witnessed the Eagles beat down on the Kansas City Chiefs; thus making the broadcast the most-watched Super Bowl and single-network telecast in history. However, if football fans desire to see the Birds run it back; it may be a slightly tougher battle this season. With the release of the 2025-2026 NFL schedule it was noted that the Philadelphia Eagles are the FIRST team in NFL history to have 10+ games against playoff teams from the previous season.
John Clark of NBC Sports dove into this topic Thursday morning stating, “How tough is the Eagles schedule? They will be facing the toughest teams from last season and 11 of the Eagles games are against playoff teams from last year. The Eagles may have the toughest road schedule in the NFL with all six of the road games outside of the division against playoff teams from last year. But I think a key is the Eagles will get extra rest going into five of those tough road games.”
And rest is certainly important. Rest days help athletes recover and heal; while impacting as well as improving focus and reaction time. All necessary aspects that winning, successful franchises require. Regarding the rest the Eagles can expect to receive before “tougher” matchups; Clark adds,
“Very beneficial for the Eagles that 5 of their toughest road games against playoff teams from last year are all with extra rest going into the road trips. At Kansas City, Minnesota, Green Bay, LA, Buffalo.”
Philly plays the Chiefs and Vikings during the first half of the season; after being comfy at home for a game. And then the Eagles play LA, Green Bay and Buffalo after their Bye Week. Therefore, nice observations by Clark.

However, truth be told, the Eagles are champions for a reason. They beat and outlasted all of these teams last year in order to hoist their trophy. Plus, just because another organization made it to the playoffs the season before; doesn’t mean they will make it the following season.
So then, what looks like a tough schedule could prove to be easy. And an easy schedule could be a real challenge. The important thing is how well built and resilient a NFL team is and how driven they are to win at all cost. Therefore, will the Birds fly high again? We’ll see in the coming months.
