MJ continues to make history in sports. No, not on a court, but at the race track. Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing and driver Tyler Riddick wins their fourth race of the NASCAR season. This isn’t just something you see every day. Michael Jordan‘s NASCAR team is blazing the competition and have now won their 4th race in JUST 6 races in 2026.

Nevertheless, why is this historic? Well, not many drivers have accomplished this very feat. In fact, before Tyler Riddick there’s only been two other racing legends to have had such an incredible start to a season.

Who are the other two drivers? If you are thinking Elliott and Earnhardt you would be absolutely correct. Bill Elliott enjoyed a strong start in 1992 and Dale Earnhardt also was red hot back in 1987. Flash forward to 2026, and Tyler Riddick now becomes only the third driver in NASCAR history to win four of the first six races in a season. Reddick’s latest success has come at Darlington, where he chased down Brad Keselowski and led the final 28 laps to secure another victory for the team Jordan co-owns with Denny Hamlin.

After the race Riddick told the media what it meant to win; and how he’s proud to have competed with such a strong performance despite experiencing numerous challenges. Tyler mentions,

“It means everything. Some of the guys and I were talking about – we have it pretty good as Cup drivers, but it seemed like today, it was going to be a blue-collar type of day – we were going to have to really work for it. From lap 1, to have the alternator problems we were having, and just be cutting fans and not to be able to run things that I was counting on to keep me cool all day was tough. Just an incredible Camry. So proud of this team, and everyone that is a part of it.”

Michael Jordan also discussed some of the setbacks Riddick endured. Tyler may have started first thanks to pole position, and finished first; but it was not easy. Jordan revealed,

“I’m pretty sure it’s frustrating for him because he had an unbelievable car. You know, you never know what’s going to happen, especially at Darlington. I think that the key to him winning was just keeping his head. I think (crew chief) Billy (Scott) did a good job of trying to keep him calm. We knew we had a fast car. We knew on a 30-lap run we were real good, on a short-lap run we were real good. We just had to get the car right. And he kept his composure, and he did an unbelievable job. I wanted everything to be good. Once he gets back out there, I feel like his competitive juices are going to carry him all the way to the end. Those are the longest 18 to 20 laps that I can even imagine. I just didn’t want to see a caution. The caution would have changed everything. But he did the job. He earned it all week, and I’m real proud of the team.”

Yes, Tyler gutted it out. Having to shut down all of his driver cooling systems in the race car for the final portion of the race. Unfortunately, due to an ailing electrical system that wouldn’t charge. Yet, he didn’t allow the inconvenience to slow him down. He dug deep and earned his latest victory.

Next up? The Cup Series heads to Martinsville, the shortest oval on the circuit at 0.526 miles. Martinsville isn’t one of Reddick’s best tracks. But with the hot start Jordan and Tyler are having, you just never know.
