Michael Jordan Will Join NBC Sports and Peacock Coverage of NBA as Special Contributor
Who wouldn’t want to hear from the GOAT? Yes, soon NBA fans are going to be treated to tales and talking points from the living legend himself. On Monday morning NBC let the cat out of the sports media bag; Michael Jordan will join NBC Sports and Peacock coverage of the NBA as a special contributor. The official announcement was made during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
However, NBC also took to social media to herald the good news. The NBC Sports page immediately declared, “A legendary addition to our team! We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to the NBA on NBC and Peacock.”
Moreover, the official communications and PR page for NBC Sports also released a brief statement. The page revealed, “Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, will join NBC Sports’ coverage of the NBA as a special contributor when the 2025-26 season begins in October.”
Nice. However, besides Jordan there is MUCH to look forward to in future broadcasts. The NBC Sports press release mentions,
“NBC Sports has already announced that Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller will serve as game analysts, Carmelo Anthony as a studio analyst, and Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle as play-by-play voices. Emmy Award-winning producer Frank DiGraci has been named coordinating producer. In a nod to its original era of NBA coverage from 1990-2002, NBC Sports is also bringing back Roundball Rock, one of the most iconic and beloved theme songs in sports history, and will use an AI-generated voice of the late Jim Fagan, a longtime NBC Sports narrator whose voice was synonymous with its NBA coverage and promotion.”

All of the above sounds like good times. Plus, it is amazing that NBC was able to get Jordan to join the NBA coverage festivities. Furthermore, NBC Sports President Rick Cordella is thrilled to have MJ on board. Regarding Jordan, Cordella says, “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”
And it looks like Michael Jordan is just as happy to be contributing starting with the upcoming season. Jordan mentions, “I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC. The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”
