THIS IS INSANE! A record that many thought would not be broken; due to the very fact that it has stood relatively ‘unchallenged’ for some four decades. However, history has been made and the Man of the Hour is a Laker. Yes, Lebron James Breaks NBA All Time Scorer Record Held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar!
This record being broken is just mind boggling the more you think about it. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was a pure BEAST on the court. Having himself played for the Lakers as well as the Milwaukee Bucks; the 7’2 NBA superstar played for a whopping 20 seasons!
That means to be able to come close to Kareem’s excellence, an athlete would need immense talent AND longevity. Those two elements are not easy to come by. When someone says the name… Grant Hill, for instance; you immediately think extremely talented player whose career is unfortunately cut short by injury.
There’s many other basketball names we can throw out there that would perfectly fit the Hill bill. Nevertheless, it shows how hard it is to be a GOAT. Many have the talent, but not everyone can achieve longevity.
As we all can agree, it’s longevity that allows for major records to be set; and remain largely untouched for years, if not decades. That is exactly what Kareem was able to do during his stellar career. He racked up accolades for being the All-Time Scorer, 6 Time Champion and the ONLY player to have 6 MVPs. A real stud and great of the game. SALUTE!

However, Father Time stops for no man. Fast forward to February 2023 and the world forever changes. A generational talent who possesses the two abilities spoken of earlier… talent and longevity; comes along breaks the iconic record.
Back in the 80’s Abdul-Jabbar is the one setting the bar. Kareem set the record in 1984 and then finished his career half a decade later with 38,387 points.Nevertheless, the bar is now notching up further!
King James (can you literally get a more fitting nickname lol); lit the court on fire during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. With a fadeaway jumper with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter, Lebron shatters the record glass and now has the record at 38390. Yet, this number will still change!
Lebron James still has more in the tank. He could rocket the record to over 40k. That sounds insane lol… but it is very plausible.
Kareem’s record stood basically for 40 years. Lebron, if he stays healthy, could possibly have a record that stands for twice as long, if not longer. What an amazing thought, and it’s the very reason we all love sports!
