LaVar Ball Had Foot Amputated After Suffering With Serious Medical Issue

Smiling through the pain. On Wednesday, a photo of a former athlete turned businessman started circulating which caused a wave of outpouring support. Sources confirmed that LaVar Ball had his foot amputated after suffering with a serious medical issue.

LaVar played sports as he grew up in the Canoga Park, California area. He would later join the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers but would never have a true NFL career. Yet, this did not stop him from developing sports related companies as well as his talented children.

At the moment, Ball does not seem to be having any complications thus far after his demanding amputation procedure. Which is great news and a very good sign that things are going well at the moment. Entertainment source TMZ revealed,

“The father of basketball stars Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball — had his foot amputated. LaVar made a name for himself with his grandiose plans for his sons — he created the Big Baller Brand, which developed signature shoes for all three hoopers. LaVar made countless headlines for his bold declarations about his kids, but has received praise following their success — Zo and Melo are stars in the Association, and Gelo’s music career is taking off.

We’re told the Ball family patriarch underwent a recent procedure to have his right foot removed … but despite it all, he is in great spirits and doing well.”

So far, an exact cause or reason behind the amputation has not been determined or confirmed. However, the renowned John Hopkins Medicine offered up a proper definition of this medical situational treatment; and some possibilities or scenarios that often lead to amputating a limb. JHM states,

“Amputation is the loss or removal of a body part such as a finger, toe, hand, foot, arm or leg. It can be a life changing experience affecting your ability to move, work, interact with others and maintain your independence. Continuing pain, phantom limb phenomena and emotional trauma can complicate recovery.

If tissue destruction, infection or disease affects a body part in a way that makes it impossible to repair or endangers the person’s life, that part may be removed by surgical amputation.

About 54% of all surgical amputations result from complications of vascular diseases and other conditions that affect blood flow, such as diabetes and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Removing a hand, foot, arm or leg to prevent the spread of certain types of cancer account for less than 2% of amputations.”

In time LaVar Ball may choose to share more details about his condition. Or his NBA children may give an update about their father. However, right now LaVar is just focusing on his recovery. Therefore, our thoughts are with the Ball family.
