How Many Rounds Are in the WNBA Draft?

Women’s college hoops came rolling in like a wrecking ball this season. Breaking viewership records, even beating out the men’s championship audience numbers by about 4 million viewers. Now all eyes and attention seem to be shifting to this year’s draft. With many asking the question, how many rounds are in the WNBA draft?

With the NBA Draft now going to cover two days instead of one. It could be easy to assume that the women’s league might work in the same fashion. It does not.

Not as many teams in the women’s league. Therefore, there are not as many spots available to fill. Therefore, the WNBA draft can do its entire draft in just one night; like NBA used to annually.

As for rounds, the WNBA makes it clear that 36 draftees are picked. With 12 picks being in each round. Therefore, if you go back to third grade math; you will get the answer that you seek. There are 3 rounds in total during the women’s draft.

Nonetheless, the WNBA is looking to keep growing and expanding. Adding more teams is definitely at the top of the league’s agenda. Since more teams will allow more amazing players the chance and opportunity to get to play professionally.
