James… have yourself a GAME. We have to take a moment and give Harden his flowers. He is a player who seems to go kind of under the radar at times. But he is still playing excellent basketball and showing why he is one of the best on the court. On Wednesday night this man put on a SHOW, the Los Angeles Clippers James Harden drops 50 points versus the Detroit Pistons; etching another notch in the history books and becoming the first to do so inside Intuit Dome.

At 35 years old, James Harden delivered a masterclass performance dropping a season-high 50 points to lead the LA Clippers
to a 123-115 victory over the Detroit Pistons. This marks his 24th career 50+ point game, solidifying his place among the NBA’s elite scorers. Notably, Harden became only the eighth player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in a game after turning 35.

Another James in the league often gets talked about when it comes to longevity. But James Harden can’t be ignored either. James Harden has played in the NBA for 16 seasons. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and now the Los Angeles Clippers. And he is holding up nicely. Harden is currently averaging 21.6 points, 8.6 assists and 5.8 rebounds in 58 games this season.

And last night he continued to amaze. Putting up another 50-piece and inching closer to Bryant territory. Yes, if Harden is able to have another 50 point game again, he’d tie Kobe Bryant for third place on the all-time NBA list with 25. That’s probably as high as he could realistically climb before retiring, as No. 2 Michael Jordan has 31 50-point games.

Then of course, there’s freaking Chamberlain! Wilt Chamberlain scored 50 points in a game an astonishing 118 TIMES, nearly four times as often as anyone else has or did. So between Wilt and Jordan those are some very impressively difficult marks to hit. Plus, it’s been five years since Harden’s previous 50-point game. So being later in his career, tying Kobe or being one game behind seems like how things will end. But still, he finds himself among great company.

Nevertheless, when his team needed him most, Harden came through. The Clippers had lost six of their past seven games before entering their matchup against the red hot Pistons. And to add salt to injury (literally); Los Angeles would have to somehow pull through with Kawhi Leonard being unavailable.

Well, Harden dropped an explosion of offense on Detroit and got the win. The western conference continues to be a dogfight in the NBA. As the Clippers find themselves slipping down the standings, but still on the heels of the Timberwolves and Warriors. It is going to be a tight race to the end. Lots of meaningful games and stressful moments. Basically, great basketball lol… so enjoy everyone.
