Angels Begin 2025 MLB Season With Hot Start—Second Best Record in American League
Now this is great for baseball. It’s always nice when a team seems to be undergoing a turnaround. While of course, it is still early, truth be told the Los Angeles Angels are beginning the 2025 MLB season with a very hot start going 8-4 which is currently the second best record in the American League.
As a quick refresher this is a ball club that for the previous three seasons mustered less than 80 wins. And a couple of those was with Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout on the same roster. In 2022 and 2023 the Halos garnered 73 wins respectively; and in 2024 due to several injuries could only eek out 63 wins with 99 losses. A record that placed them dead last in their division, the AL West.
However, so far 2025 is looking different. Trout is healthy and already batting like a superstar once more. For the season he already has 5 home runs, 11 RBI, a stolen base which all amounts to a .895 OPS. With just 44 plate appearances the man is clearly putting in work. Every four at bats he’s causing some scoring.

Nevertheless, it is not just Trout making all this winning possible. The Angels are getting it done as a team. They have won every series, are the only AL West team with a positive run diff; and they have the third most home runs in Major League Baseball, behind only the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
Additionally, in their last game which was against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Angels really flexed their batting muscle. Three guys had a multi-homer game. Yes, THREE.
According to official MLB Stats, “[Against the Rays], Mike Trout, Jo Adell and Taylor Ward all crush two homers apiece in a big win. Taylor Ward, Jo Adell and Mike Trout all have 2-HR games. It’s the third time in Angels history that 3 different players have hit 2+ homers in the same game.”
Nice. So if the Angels can keep up this pace we could have a feel good, redemption story on our hands. AND yet another fun western battle to behold. Over in the National League teams are already at WAR. The Padres, Giants and Dodgers all occupy the top three positions in their division and not much separates them.
In the AL West the Angels are right on the tail of the Texas Rangers who are 9-4. So Texas has just one more win. If this continues we could have a TIGHT race to the finish line out west in both leagues. Ahhh… baseball is in full effect!
