Yu Darvish Pays Respects to Padres Peter Seidler- Along with Hundreds of Fans
It is announcement that stuns all of baseball. Peter Seidler’s sudden passing after going all in to help bring a championship to San Diego; leaves many fans in a state of reflective grief. However, this loss is not only hard on just the city as well as fans; but also the players themselves. Several individuals come out to Petco Park, including Yu Darvish Pays Respects to Padres Peter Seidler with a large, gorgeous floral arrangement.
Shortly after the unfortunate passing of their owner, the Padres organization announces that the home plate gate will be open. It will be open till midnight (then reopen at 6 a.m.) for all those that wish to pay their respects to Mr. Seidler. Immediately, many San Diegans begin coming from all over the region.
They bring flowers of all sorts and tones. However, many are a lovely golden yellow shade; appropriate for the Padres’ uniform colors that incorporate brown and gold. Very fitting.
Furthermore, some other fans choose to pay tribute by doing good deeds. Peter Seidler worked with many charities and foundations to help the San Diego community combat such issues such as hunger and homelessness. Therefore, many fans decide to bring food stuffs, water and blankets to pass out to those in need. A very appropriate and beneficial gesture, that we are Papa Pete would have loved.

Moreover, Padres starting pitcher, Yu Darvish is among those arriving at Petco Park. Wearing a striped Padres shirt and carrying a very sizable bouquet of flowers. Darvish is seen walking up a set of stairs to the memorial for Peter Seidler and gently sets his flowers next to the display. He then bows his head… takes a moment of silence.
K.C. Alfred, a photographer of all things San Diego that specializes in sports and portrait photography in America’s Finest City; captured the moment. In the photo, Darvish is standing before a flurry of gifts and flowers; with hands together and head down. Regarding the moving photograph Alfred simply states,
“Padres pitcher Yu Darvish and his wife pays their respects to Padres owner Peter Seidler at a public memorial at Petco Park Tuesday afternoon.”
