YouTube TV Increasing Price to $83 a Month in January 2025

YouTube TV Increasing Price to $83 a Month in January 2025; Not Good For Sports

Cord cutters have lost another battle. In the war against paying high prices just to watch various programs and events live. Online giant YouTube is once again putting the squeeze on their customers. During the wee hours of Thursday morning, it was announced that YouTube TV would be increasing their price to $83 a month in January 2025. Yikes.

This decision will affect many sports fans who utilize the service. Fans who love to watch everything from NFL to the MLB. These individuals will once again feel the impact via their bank accounts.

Users received an email informing them of the upcoming changes. It read as follows:

“Hi _____,

YouTube TV has always worked hard to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want, with features that make it easy to enjoy the best of live TV. To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service, we’re updating our monthly price from $72.99/month to $82.99/month starting January 13, 2025.”

As many are now pointing out, this means that YouTube TV has now doubled in price over the last five years. From $40 to $83 per month. All while also removing regional sports networks and other channels like MLB network. So higher price, for less of what the people want.

“A message for our members: we have always worked to offer the content you love, with features to enjoy the best of live TV. To keep up with rising content costs, we’re updating our monthly price to $82.99/mo.

New members will see this price today; current members starting January 13. For more details on these updates, visit http://yt.be/ytvinfo. We hope YouTube TV continues to be your go-to TV service, but if you need to pause or cancel, family managers can do so at http://yt.be/ytvpse.

We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this impacts our members. With many exciting shows and live events coming up in 2025, we remain committed to bringing you the best of TV, all in one place. Thank you for being a loyal member.”

Several YouTube TV members responded with their point of view of the situation, expressing, “YouTube TV has now doubled in price over the last five years. The last price increase was in April 2023 at $72.99 from $64.99 a 12% increase. For reference, it launched at a cost of $34.99 per month in 2017 a total increase calculating at over 137%+ (inflation adjusted.)”

A 137% increase is pretty steep. Imagine what it could be in another five years. This pricing situation continues to wreck havoc; and so far brands and consumers are worlds apart from being on the same page.
