Yankee’s Aaron Judge Shared Some Thoughts On Juan Soto
They spent the 2024 season slugging it out together forming a dynamic duo in the MLB. However, during the offseason one guy signed the biggest contract in sports history with the New York Mets. Moreover, the now former Yankee had no qualms about moving on and breaking up the band. But really who would say no to a mega contract? However, when asked about it the New York Yankee’s Aaron Judge shared some thoughts on his former teammate Juan Soto.
It has only been a couple of months since the Dominican native Juan Soto was wooed by the New York Mets. He signed a 15-year contract worth $765 million with the Mets, making it the most lucrative contract in any sport. Therefore, it made sense that reporters asked Judge if he was surprised about comments from Soto regarding the signing. Judge was asked, “Did Juan’s decision and his apparent conclusion that he had a better chance to win with the Mets than the Yankees… [demonstrate that the Yankees can’t win]?” Judge responded, “You know that’s his opinion, he can say what he wants. I definitely disagree with him, but I wasn’t too surprised by it. I think that’s where he wanted to be.”
Judge did go on to say that he was happy for Juan and his family and the contract he received. And he shared that he tried to reach out to Soto but he’d changed his number, but since then they have caught up. But Judge didn’t dwell on losing a player like Soto as the conversation was turned toward the Yankees. He said the Yankees had added a lot of new pieces to the team. Although you can’t replace a guy like Juan Soto you can bring in guys that are All Star, MVP caliber players.

Staying on the Yankees, Judge was asked where he would like to hit in the batting order this season. Given his slugging abilities would he want to stay at the top of the order or move further back in the rotation? But being a team-first kind of guy, Judge replied, “I’d love to hit third again, I told him that since the first day. But, I’ve always been about wherever you need me… I’ll be anywhere that helps shape this lineup the way we need to.”
Despite losing Soto, Judge is all positivity when it comes to the new roster. “It’s going to be exciting. We have a lot of new pieces, some new arms. Especially with Max Fried, a guy I faced for quite a few years and I’m glad he’s in pinstripes now.” We’ll see if Judge’s positivity pays off.
