WNBA Teams Indiana Fever and Golden State Valkyries Enjoy Opening Day Sellouts
As the league continues to grow, more and more sellouts continue to occur. Several teams report increasing ticket sales. However, two WNBA teams the Indiana Fever and Golden State Valkyries have just enjoyed opening day sellouts.
Many wondered if the excitement generated during the 2024 season by Caitlin Clark and the rest of that exciting draft class would still be apparent in 2025. And the answer is a resounding yes. The WNBA is still trending way upwards.
Case in point, when you look at what is going down in the Bay area. Golden State is a new expansion team and the organization is experiencing major success. Since the unveiling the team name as well as logo, the Valkyries merchandise has been sold in ALL 50 states and in over 70 countries.
Their success has not stopped at merch. Fans have opened their wallets wide in order to become season ticket holders. Early reports showed that the franchise was rapidly nearing 10K. However, the Sports Business Journal reported last year that, “the WNBA Golden State Valkyries have secured over 3500 additional season ticket deposits, pushing their total past 11,000.”
And ALL those season ticket holders and others showed up and out for the Valkyries inaugural game. Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr; as well as players Kuminga, Hield, Podz and Looney also came out to support. Nevertheless, journalist Kendra Andrews reported,
“18,064 fans here for tonight’s inaugural Valkyries game. A sellout. That’s the highest attendance for any team in their debut game, including the inaugural season.”

Furthermore, the Fever also continues to be the hottest ticket in town. The franchise plays at and shares the same home as the Indiana Pacers, which would be Gainbridge Fieldhouse. And for their first game of the 2025 season, there was not a seat to spare.
Indiana enjoyed yet another sellout, as 17,274 screaming fans watched on proudly as they defeated the Chicago Sky in a blowout win, 58-93. But this sellout frenzy is just more of the same for the Fever organization. Last year, with the addition of Caitlin Clark, the team sold 90 times more tickets on Stubhub than in 2023. They also had a game in 2025 sellout in just half an hour. Therefore, the Fever success is very real and the fandom certainly contagious.
