WNBA Rebound Queen Angel Reese Was Traded from Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream
She’s no stranger to headlines or controversial subjects. And today that tradition continued as news about her situation was shared. It has been announced that WNBA rebound queen Angel Reese was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream. News of the trade came out on Monday morning:
“The Sky are trading Angel to the Dream in exchange for two first-round picks. This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties,” General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said. The Sky willl receive a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick from the Dream and are sending a second-round pick swap in 2028.
Pagliocca went on to say regarding Angel:
“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky,” Pagliocca added. “We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond. We wish Angel all the best in her next chapter.”
Although it seems surprising, Reese has only been in the WNBA for two years. However, the trade is not a complete surprise as there had been some rumblings last season. Back in September, Reese had stated: “I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune in September. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a nonnegotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best.” That statement led to Reese being suspended for the first half of their game against the Las Vegas Aces. The organization had deemed the “statements detrimental to the team.”

Nevertheless, the Atlanta Dream are happy to have Reese join their team. General manager Dan Padover said in a statement:
“Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta. She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league. And her competitiveness, production and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”
Reese was initially drafted with the 7th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft and while with the Sky she made 64 appearances. During that time Reese averaged 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and was a two-time All-Star. Now she’s moving on to Atlanta where she will have the opportunity to help the Dream bring a WNBA championship to the city.
