Wizards Provided Update Regarding Anthony Davis’ Left Hand Injury
Whenever a player is injured, it is always nice to hear some positive news. And good things regarding AD are emerging from the Washington camp. This week, the Wizards provided an update regarding Anthony Davis’ left hand injury. The franchise says Davis is right on schedule.
Anthony’s injury occurred before his arrival in Washington, while he was still with the Dallas Mavericks. Back in January, Davis injured his hand while defending Utah’s Lauri Markkanen on a drive late in the Mavs’ road loss to the Jazz. A game in which Davis posted 21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one block in 35 minutes of action.
The severity of Davis’ hand injury became evident later in the same week. After being thoroughly evaluated and assessed; it was determined that Davis would undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his left hand and miss several months.
Wizards Provided Update Regarding Anthony Davis’ Left Hand Injury
Flash forward to present day and the Wizards, who have less than eight games left this season, say Anthony Davis (ligament damage in his left hand) has been cleared for light contact. The expectation coming out of the All-Star break was that Davis was unlikely to play for the Wizards this season. The franchise released the following statement:
“Washington Wizards announced today the following injury update for forward/center Anthony Davis:
Davis, who is out with ligament damage in his left hand, was reevaluated Monday by Dr. Steven Shin of Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Davis’ recovery continues to progress as expected and is healing on schedule. He has been cleared for light contact as he progresses toward his full return. Updates will be provided as appropriate.”
Davis hasn’t played since Jan. 8 and remains without a clear timetable for a return. For now, he can be considered doubtful for future contests this season. There’s just not enough games left.
With Washington only having seven games remaining in its season, it seems unlikely that AD will make his return, and if he does, it will likely only be for a game or two. However, it is nice to know Davis is progressing well and will be good to go in the near future.
