Will Netflix Stream the 2024 NFL Christmas Games
Once upon a time there was this thing called network television. But with the advent of streaming services network television has almost become obsolete. Case in point, there is a question of will Netflix stream the 2024 NFL Christmas games. Apparently the notion was first floated by Boomer Esiason on his WFAN show. According to Esiason, he said, “… I believe that Netflix, are you ready for this? What I think is going to happen, I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am. I’m going to give you one of these things, you wanna take it with a grain of salt you can take it with a grain of salt. Do not be surprised if the NFL and Netflix get in bed for a nice little Christmas Day football games. I would not be surprised.”
If that is the case then where does that leave the networks who normally televise such games. According to Pro Football Talk things could get awkward, “since the Wednesday schedule will be derived from clawing two games from CBS and/or Fox. In theory, they should already have the rights to those games.” And they further theorized that, “Maybe the contracts were written to give the NFL the flexibility to yank a pair of Sunday games. And move them to Wednesday.”
The NFL has an extremely valuable product. They can make whatever demands they want. And everyone else will kowtow. It’s rumored that they want anywhere from $50 million up to as much as $100 million for each of the Christmas games. Of course that’s going to bring in a huge amount of revenue for the league. However, with a limited number of games to sell someone is going to get left out in the cold. Will it be streaming services or network channels?

As yet the deal has not been finalized. But if it gets done, the deal could have a far reaching impact on fans. Because games are free to watch on network channels. You have to pay to watch them on streaming services. A lot of us have multiple streaming services already. But if NFL games continue to be parceled out to streaming services, subscription fees will add up quickly.
On the other hand Netflix has proven to be able to handle live streaming events. Therefore, you shouldn’t have to worry about a glitchy connection. Either way, how we watch NFL games is rapidly changing. I suppose we’ll have to get onboard or get left behind.
