When is the NFL Trade Deadline?
It’s that time of year when you hope your favorite NFL team will make some amazing trades and bring in new and exciting players. Or as we like to say, it’s the time to try and steal the best players from your rival teams. But honestly, we’ll steal a player from any team as long as he can ball out. But when is the NFL trade deadline to make the magic happen?
Before we get to that magic date we should probably figure out when the 2023 League Year began. The first day of the 2023 season began on March 15 with the trading period beginning at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time. The NFL league office is located in New York city hence the Eastern time designation.
The month of April is always a busy time for the league. New head coaches were permitted to begin off season workout programs, restricted free agents could sign offer sheets, and of course the NFL draft.
The month of May is equally busy. Three day rookie mini-camps are being held as well as rookie football development programs. Also, the Spring League Meeting will be held May 22-24.
When is the NFL Trade Deadline
So with all of that activity going on we still have to answer the question of when is the NFL trade deadline. And the shore answer is, we don’t know. As of the writing of this article the NFL had not announced the trade deadline. However, we do have history on our side.
In the past, the trade deadline has usually taken place on a Tuesday following week 8 of the NFL season. Last year the trade deadline fell on Tuesday, November 1. Therefore, it seems likely the 2023 deadline will be on Tuesday, November 8. Of course, things can and often do change so we won’t write that date in stone just yet.
However, the announcement of the trade deadline often comes shortly after the NFL Schedule release which just dropped this week. So the wait shouldn’t be much longer for the NFL trade deadline. In the meantime, keep dreaming about the guys you would love for your team to snatch up. You never know, it could happen!
