What’s Next For The Texans After Christmas Day Blowout?

When you hit rock bottom, the only place to go is up. At least that’s what the Houston Texans would like to believe. But after the demoralizing loss to the Ravens it would be easy to lose faith in their team. So what’s next for the Houston Texans after their Christmas Day blowout loss? Well first they have to turn the page as they get ready for their final regular season game against their division rival the Tennessee Titans. Houston will host a Wild Card Playoff game at NRG Stadium the weekend after that game at Tennessee.

But in the meantime, head coach DeMeco Ryans said, “We’ll take the next couple of days here to look at everything, starting with myself,” Ryans said. “Everything starts with me. But as a team, we just stay together, figure out a way to come out playing better football.” So it would seem the Texans need to look in the mirror and do some soul-searching. But they’re not willing to let the loss derail them. Quarterback C J Stroud had some comments:

“No. I mean, what are you going to do? Cry and weep about it? Of course, you know, it’s not easy,” Stroud said after the 31-2 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. “At the same time, it’s part of the game. Sometimes you go out there and lay an egg. It’s not easy to say that, but that’s what happened tonight. Didn’t play well from the first play to the last. That’s part of the game. Things happen. I’m sure a lot of people in their careers had this type of game before. I’m not going to sit here and act like it’s foreign, but it is necessary to wake you up. That’s what it’s going to do for me and this team.”

Clearly the Texans aren’t feeling sorry for themselves. Instead coach Ryans insists that the game against the Ravens is not who they are. “I think you come back fired up and showing that’s not who we are,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “At the end of the day, that’s not who we are. That’s not what we represent, what we put out there on the field today. That’s not Texans football.

“For anybody to come back and bounce back from it, you got to check yourself and make sure you’re playing with elite execution and elite energy to go out and make the plays we need to make to win the game. It all starts with a self-check and then we go from there.”

Hopefully the Texans can prove their coach right.
