Warriors Stephen Curry Becomes 10th Player to Play 17 or More Seasons With One Team
Number thirty has made plenty of history throughout his tenure in the national basketball association. However, on day one of this 2025-2026 season without even making one single basket the Bay Area legend will make even more. The Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry is set to become just the 10th player ever to play 17 or more seasons with one team.
A big accomplishment especially since there is a lot of factors that have gone into making this a reality. For one thing, to his team he is obviously way too valuable in their eyes to let him go or trade (like, of course lol). Additionally, this particular stat is also due to Curry’s longevity.
How long does the average NBA player stay in the league for? Would you say twelve years… ten years… or perhaps five? Well, the National Basketball Association discussed this subject when underscoring the importance of players planning for retirement from basketball. The league revealed,
“The average NBA career is about 4.5 years, leaving many players with the same question. Though salaries have increased exponentially over the past 25 years and the buzz of… free-agent bonanza dominates the summer headlines, the importance of planning for life after basketball has not changed.”
Steph Curry has more than just surpassed 4.5 years. He’s heading towards five times that timeframe and he’s still a dominant figure that opposing teams fear on the court. Truly amazing.

Nevertheless, the league is proud to herald this fun fact about Steph far and wide. Last Wednesday, the NBA mentioned this Curry news and briefly discussed other players who were able to find longevity with a single organization as well. National Basketball Association Public Relations declares,
Stephen Curry is set to become the 10th player ever to play 17 or more seasons with one team.
Of the other nine players, six played their entire NBA career with only one team:
▪️ Dirk Nowitzki (21 seasons, DAL)
▪️ Kobe Bryant (20 seasons, LAL)
▪️ Udonis Haslem (20 seasons, MIA)
▪️ Tim Duncan (19 seasons, SAS)
▪️ John Stockton (19 seasons, UTA)
▪️ Reggie Miller (18 seasons, IND)
Nice company to be associated with; great players. Nonetheless, Curry and the Warriors tip off their season on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 10 PM ET on NBC/Peacock at the Lakers. You won’t want to miss Chef at work.
