Warriors Steph Curry Hits 300 Threes in a Season for 6th Time in Career—Most in NBA History

He is one of the greatest shooters to ever play in the NBA. And on Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, he once again proved it. Despite a loss, the Warriors Steph Curry hits 300 threes in a season for the 6th time in his career, which is the most in NBA history. Literally, no one else in the entire existence of the league has been able to have a 300+ three-pointer season more than once.

In a shootout (and heck, also NBA2K lol); you don’t want to face Curry. He can take you down in a blaze of glory from any spot on the court. Even beyond half court he can knock down a three-pointer like it’s a layup.

Which is why it is not unusual to see some tough defense from opposing teams. From not just two guys, but at times even tripled up opposition. Yet, it is in this environment that Steph Curry still continues to thrive. He earns every LAST basket and point, only making his records that more impressive.

Against the Spurs, the Warriors faced a tough task. Win a MUST win game to try to avoid a play in postseason situation. During the first half, Golden State got off to a nice 13 point lead; but San Antonio came roaring right back and eventually flipped the lead. At one point in the second quarter, after playing over seven minutes the Warriors only had three points. Not good, and not a recipe for success.

Nevertheless, in the second half, Golden State sprung back to life and of course, the Chef cooked. In the third quarter with 9:32 on the clock, Curry hit his 300 three-pointer for the season. Throughout the game #30 would end up fittingly putting up 30 points. But yet, drowsiness would hit GSW once more.

After going up double digits; the Warriors found themselves in the same place as they did in the first half. The Spurs turned up the intensity and demolished the lead, tying things up in the fourth. Instead of keeping their foot on the pedal, Golden State seemed to lose steam.

Even with some clutch free throws by Draymond Green to tie things up one last time with three seconds to go in regulation. Three seconds proved to be enough for San Antonio. The Spurs barely pull out the win with a game-winning three, 114-111 and play spoiler; ultimately and most likely making the Warriors a play-in team (but of course, in the NBA anything can happen).

But the Warriors still have some bragging rights. They will have a postseason appearance unlike San Antonio; but it will still be a very tough uphill battle. No team that has ever won a play-in tournament has also won the championship. However, Golden State does possess the purest shooter on their roster and a hungry Jimmy Butler. The Warriors could still regroup after Wednesday’s tough loss and continue to make the NBA postseason very interesting.

Curry said it best after the game, “We’ve had a very professional approach and very consistent level we’ve been playing at. Our execution tonight just wasn’t great. A good team takes care of business the next two and goes from there. We have to prove we’re a good team.”
