Warriors Eliminated Rockets With Superb Performances By Hield And Curry
Team work makes the dream work and that was on full demonstration last night. The Golden State Warriors were in danger of blowing a 3-1 lead in the first round of playoff games. After dropping game 6 to the Rockets in San Francisco things were looking dire for the Warriors. But last night the tide turned in favor of the Cali boys. The Golden State Warriors eliminated the Houston Rockets with superb game 7 performances by Buddy Hield and Steph Curry. Overall the whole team performed far better than the previous two games.
Curry got off to a slow start in the first half only putting up a total of three points. But it was a different story for Hield who had been rather quiet during the round 1 series. In the first 6 games his stats were 43 PTS, 9-31 3PT, 37% FG. However, in game 7 he turned up the heat with 33 PTS, 9-11 3PT, 80% FG! His nine triples during the game helped to lift the Warriors over the Rockets. He hit a particularly nice three-pointer at the buzzer at the end of the first quarter. Check out the clip of the shot here.
According to @statmuse Buddy Hield’s 33 points is the MOST by a Steph teammate in a Playoff game since Kevin Durant in 2019. And when it comes to playoff threes Buddy Hield has: 18 — vs Rockets 6 — First 8 seasons combined. Also with NINE made last night, Buddy Hield has tied the NBA record for most threes in a Game 7. Buddy Hield becomes the first player in NBA history to have a Game 7 with 30+ PTS & 0 FTA. Buddy did work last night and lifted his team to victory. But we can’t forget about Mr. Curry.
Steph Curry now has the most Game 7s in NBA history with 20+ PTS on 50/40/90% as noted by @statmamba. Despite being suppressed in the first three quarters the Rockets couldn’t keep him down forever. He exploded in the fourth quarter, totaling 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks.

The other big names on the team did their part as well. Jimmy Butler had a near triple-double of 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Draymond Green scored 16 points to go with his six rebounds and five assists. After slugging it out with the young Rockets team, the Warriors came back in a big way in game 7 punching their ticket to the next round. The Warriors have faced the Rockets in five playoff series and beaten them all five times.
They will next face the Minnesota Timberwolves in round 2 of the NBA playoffs. Game 1 will be Tuesday night at the Target Center in Minnesota.
