However, two athletes have done so during their careers and the connection between the two; and what happened simply cannot be ignored. Wearing a tee with legendary basketball player, Kobe Bryant on it; Warren looks calm, and extremely chill. The Stanley Cup Finals have been intense. Leaving some fans jubilant and others ready to throw their TVs and phones out of a window. It looked as though confetti would be falling upon Florida since they took a very commanding 3-0 lead.
However, the Oilers told us all collectively to hold their beer; and demonstrated that they are not going down without a bloody fight. They demolished the Panthers with an ending score that looked more like a high scoring MLB game. They took game 4 winning, 8-1.
Moreover, the Oilers could do something unthinkable. Comeback from being down 3-0. But, the odds aren’t very good.
The only team in league history to ever come back to win the cup after falling to 3-0 in the finals are the Toronto Maple Leafs. And this event occurred 82 years ago! Back in 1942. So then, Oilers you may choose to accept this mission impossible; and this message will now self destruct in five seconds.

But what is so fascinating about that Warren t-shirt? Well, it features the moment Kobe Bryant wore Wayne Gretzky’s No.99 Oilers jersey prior to Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. Bryant is famous for his “mamba mentality;” and it surely showed up for him during that matchup in 2002. And showed up for the Oilers.
NHL Network reports on the crazy winning fun fact that shall forever exist. They reveal,
“May 18, 2012: Kobe Bryant wears a Wayne Gretzky jersey to a game, and the Los Angeles Lakers score 𝟗𝟗 points in a win.

Wild. Well, the Panthers are not in the least bit fazed by the loss; and plan to come out swinging in Game 5. However, Oilers players are still feeling the Mamba vibe and plan to do their best to carry the positive vibes forward. Draisaitl mentions,
“I think we all believe, I think we all have confidence in ourselves.”
Stuart Skinner after a practice adds his thoughts. He states,
“We’re going to fight together, just like we always do.”
Even Coach Knoblauch is leaning into the fired up mindset. He says,
“Hopefully we can continue this on for another eight days, that’s the mindset.”
So will the Panthers finish it out? Or will the Oilers accomplish one of the greatest comebacks in NHL history? We’ll just have to kick back and see. Game 5 goes down Tuesday.
