Von Miller And Michael Hall Jr. Suspended For Multiple Games

Von Miller And Michael Hall Jr. Suspended For Multiple Games

For years now the NFL has worried about it’s image as far as player conduct is concerned. If they feel a player has done something to tarnish that image they take action. So on that note it’s been reported that Buffalo Bills defensive end Von Miller and Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. have been suspended for multiple games. Miller has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Likewise, Hall Jr. has been suspended five games without pay by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Miller is eligible for reinstatement following the team’s Week 8 game at the Seattle Seahawks. Hall  is eligible for reinstatement on Monday, Oct. 7, which means he has already served four games of the suspension. Hall has been on the Commissioner’s Exempt list for the first four games of the season, and those games count against his suspension. The suspension will cost him $220,833, or 5/18 of his $795,00 base salary. Both players were involved in alleged domestic abuse cases.

Miller’s suspension likely stems from domestic violence allegations that were brought by his girlfriend, back in November in Dallas. Dallas police issued an arrest warrant for Miller after he was accused of assaulting the woman, and the charge filed was for a third-degree felony. He turned himself into the police and was released on a $5,000 bond. Shortly thereafter, the woman told a Dallas TV station that, “We’re fine. Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous! No one assaulted anyone. This is insane. And sad.” Miller was asked about the case and he said, “No charges were ever filed and the case is closed. I’m able to just move forward and focus solely on football.”

Hall was charged with domestic violence on Aug. 13 following the incident involving his fiancée at the home they share in Avon, Ohio. According to an incident report, the woman told police that Hall became violent during a dispute over finances. The former Ohio State standout recently pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct last month. He was given a 30-day suspended jail sentence, fined $250 and given two years of monitored time. Hall told the court, “I regret this whole situation. I’m getting counseling and trying to better myself.”

The Bills should be able to absorb the loss of Miller as he is a rotational player. Without Hall, the Browns are 1-3 and need his help. Because of his explosiveness off the ball and ability to affect the quarterback, as well as his tackling ability.
