Vikings Laid Waste To The Bears On Monday Night Football
It never seemed like the Vikings were in any danger of losing the game. Despite their own sometimes sloppy play. QB Sam Darnold had several passes that were in danger of being intercepted during the game. Nevertheless, the Vikings still laid waste to the Bears on Monday Night Football. Which is not surprising as Chicago came into the game averaging 4.5 yards/play last in the NFL and had allowed 56 sacks the most in the NFL. However, they had lost four games by three points or less so they had the potential to win but just not tonight.
The Bears started off on a negative note on the opening drive of the game. They were 4th & 1 at CHI 39 and couldn’t pick up the first down. Although the Vikings only advanced the ball five yards they kicked a 52-yard field goal to get the first points on the board. Things got worse for the Bears on their second possession. After moving the ball down the field they got to 3rd & 9 at MIN 29. But Caleb Williams was sacked and fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Vikings. It took the Vikings six plays and 2:30 for Justin Jefferson to score the 7-yard touchdown.
One of Darnold’s errant passes was finally intercepted by the Bears. However, the Bears couldn’t take advantage and turned the ball over on downs. The Vikings converted the turnover into another field goal of 31-yards. So the Vikings were up 13-0 at the end of the half.
The third quarter began with the Vikings punting twice and the Bears once. But Williams had started to get the ball out of his hands quicker and connect with his receivers.

So Chicago got down to the MIN 1 and D’Andre Swift ran it in for the 1-yard touchdown. But it was nullified because OL Doug Kramer failed to report in as eligible. Then they were called for offensive holding followed by an incomplete pass. So they had to settle for the 29-yard field goal. The Vikings then scored a touchdown. In the fourth quarter Williams found Keenan Allen who made a pretty sideline catch. Keeping his toes down and inbounds he extended his body and made the catch falling out of bounds.
The Vikings scored another touchdown. But later the Bears blocked a punt and the offense turned it into a touchdown. But the Vikings scored another field goal and beat their division rivals 12-30.
Vikings Pay Tribute To Randy Moss
On a positive note the Vikings paid tribute to Randy Moss. Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter and former Vikings star Jake Reed walked onto the field holding up a Moss jersey. “Let’s Moss cancer,” the public address announcer at U.S. Bank Stadium said. The two players held up the jersey as the officials conducted the coin toss with each team’s captains at midfield.
During the first quarter, Justin Jefferson caught a touchdown pass from Sam Darnold. He looked into the camera and yelled, “We love you Randy! That was for you.”
And on a personal note, I think the Vikings winter whiteout uniforms were fire.
