Vikings and Christian Darrisaw Agree to Four-Year $113 Million Deal

Vikings and Christian Darrisaw Agree to Four-Year $113 Million Deal

The negotiations have come to an end. And both parties are ready to move forward and get to work for the upcoming season. The Minnesota Vikings and Christian Darrisaw Agree to Four-Year $113 Million Deal with over $40M of it guaranteed at signing.

Adam Schefter confirms the deal. He also provides some more intel about the financials. He reports,

“Vikings and OT Christian Darrisaw have agreed on a four-year deal worth up to $113 million in new money, including $77 million guaranteed. Darrisaw had two years left on his rookie contract. Deal includes $43.7 million guaranteed at signing. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus, Jason Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.”

This contract extension is not a surprise and makes a lot of sense for Minnesota. Locking in some youth (Darrisaw is 25 years old); and someone who is extremely consistent in his on field appearances. Christian has barely missed any games; which means he is reliable and is good about staying healthy.

As we all know, health is wealth to any franchise. The team that can stay healthy and effective; gives themselves less hurdles to navigate during the season.

Additionally, Christian has shown that he can also handle change. Last season Darrisaw was able to keep up his high level of production despite the Vikings starting four different quarterbacks in one season. The first time they have done so in franchise history.

Therefore, this is the kind of guy any team would love to have. A hard worker. And someone who is adaptable.

The Vikings organization also revealed some other reasons behind making a deal with Christian Darrisaw. In a statement the team reveals,

Darrisaw has impressed as a pass blocker and has exerted his will during run plays, showcasing the strength and athleticism that made him a prized prospect. During the 2023 season, Darrisaw recorded the third-highest pass block grade (85.3) among all offensive linemen who played at least 50 percent of their teams snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Darrisaw has started 39 of 41 games played for the Vikings since his selection as the 23rd overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Those numbers include starting all 15 games played in 2023, when he logged a career-high 982 snaps and Minnesota ranked fourth in passing attempts and touchdowns and fifth in passing yards.

Nice. Thus far, Christian is certainly having a good career with the Vikings. And Minnesota is very happy and thankful to have him.
