USWNT Defeats Dominican Republic 5-0 in Gold Cup Match
The Gold Cup is underway and the U.S Women’s National Soccer Team is in full cruise control. They took on the DR and came away with the big “W” with their vets and teen athletes all getting in on the action. USWNT defeats Dominican Republic 5-0 in Gold Cup competition.
It started with teen sensation, Olivia Moultrie; who showcased great pose, leadership and skill for a 18 year old player (but are we really surprised since she went pro at 13). It’s clear we will be seeing much more from this amazing footballer. Moultrie would go on to score 2 goals during the match.
However, veteran NWSL superstar, Alex Morgan of San Diego’s Wave football club; also shows why she is a fan favorite and one of the most decorated players in women’s soccer. She came into the game due to an ACL injury sustained by forward, Mia Fishel; during training for the Gold Cup. Morgan filled in effortlessly. Olivia got the USA ladies on the scoreboard at the start of the game, going 1-0 over the Dominican Republic; and the scoring just continued from there. Morgan wrapped things up with a pretty bow by scoring the final, and fifth goal of the contest.
