After 16 years, the medaling drought is finally over. They put the work in and now five men stand victorious. The USA Men’s Gymnastics Team wins the Bronze which is their first medal since 2008.

While women’s gymnastics tends to leave the Summer Games with some hardware. That hasn’t been the case for the men. For almost two decades, various squads have gone to the big global show, but have fallen short.

However, this year’s team was different. The talent, confidence, consistency, nerves of steel and vibes all came perfectly together. While other countries fell all over the gymnasium venue in Paris; Team USA stuck landings, performed moves of difficulty and showed why they deserved to be champions.

And even though several of their scores felt lowballed throughout the team final. None of the guys allowed the scoring to deter them. They pressed on to their goal, to medal as a team. And they succeeded!

Were they upset to leave Paris with a bronze medal as a team? Not in the least! And you could see it they’re enthusiastic moving throughout the rotations. From vault (their first event in the rotation) to pommel horse; Team USA just kept upping their game. Paul Juda who got the team started on the way to medaling by sticking the landing of the very first vault in of competition; discussed how good they all feel. Juda states,

“There’s that one in meme online where there’s a guy on a podium popping champagne, biting the medal, taking all the pictures. And then they zoom out, and he’s on third. But that’s what it felt like today,” said gymnast Paul Juda. “We ended the drought 16 years in the making, and I can’t be happier for everybody.”

Frederick Richard who was unbelievable on high bar adds,

“They used to have pictures in my gym of the past Olympic teams that medaled, and I always looked at that, like, ‘Man, what if I was one of those people one day?’ And now we are.”
