They have done it. They have remained perfect. UConn Women’s Basketball are the 2025-2026 BIG EAST regular season champions. And now with a victory over Georgetown UConn remains flawless; continuing their perfect 30-0 season as March draws ever closer.
Yes, it was another February confetti shower for the Huskies. As UConn celebrated winning its 6th straight Big East regular season title. And this celebration never gets old. Head Coach Geno Auriemma talked about the “robust” confetti after UConn celebrated their Big East title. Auriemma remarks,
“It doesn’t matter how many conference championships you’ve won. There’s a lot of excitement for those kids who have never experienced this before. That’s what makes it fun.”
And it is an experience that was well-earned and a moment the UConn women’s basketball team is sure to never forget. They are a part of college hoops history. Firmly cementing their place in the Huskies legacy. This is the 57th consecutive Big East regular-season victory for the Huskies.
Nevertheless, how did UConn go about securing yet another huge victory? What was the game plan? Well, after celebrating with his champs, Geno Auriemma shared with media the groundbreaking strategy he gave during timeouts Thursday vs. Georgetown. With a humorous tone, Geno reveals, “I made a really key adjustment – I said we should guard them at the three point line. And it worked, it really did.”
Besides shutting down Georgetown from hitting anything from long range; UConn also was a force to be reckoned with offensively. The high ranked UConn WBB (30-0) remained undefeated behind Azzi Fudd’s fifth 20+point performance of February. The Huskies now have their fifth straight 30-win season and extended its NCAA record to 29 total 30-win seasons.
Azzi Fudd in the end put up 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists & 4 steals in her last ever game as a UConn Huskie in Hartford. Sarah Strong added 13 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Huskies. Nonetheless, UConn cruised to an 84-52 win over Georgetown on Thursday night to extend its winning streak to 46 games.

Entering Thursday’s matchup, UConn had won 17 straight home games by at least 30 points. That is the longest streak of home wins by 30+ points by any DI (men’s or women’s), NBA or WNBA team this century (next closest is 13 straight by UConn WBB from Feb. 2014 – Feb. 2015).
UConn has trailed for just 20:48 in its 15 home games this season. Only once did UConn trail after the first quarter at home. UConn finished 15-0 at home during the regular season. It was the 22nd time in program history that the Huskies had a perfect home record in the regular season. Next up, UConn will play St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
