U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Wins Seventh Straight World Title

More records have been set in the world of gymnastics. For instance, the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics wins seventh straight world title! That breaks the tie that existed with China’s men’s gymnastics team.

Furthermore, the win also clinched the 33rd medal for superstar Simone Biles, world championships and Olympics combined. Along with Vitaly Scherbo this is the most medals for any gymnast. Absolutely amazing.

Nevertheless, at first there was a damper on the competition. Joscelyn Roberson suffered an injury during warmups and couldn’t compete. Despite that, by the halfway point, the Americans had a good lead over the competition. However, there were some mistakes made during the routines. Shilese Jones stepped out of bounds during her floor routine. Prior to that things had been going smoothly.

Leanne Wong started off on the beam and fell off attempting an aerial cartwheel. Then she had to compete in the floor exercise and had some trouble with her tumbling passes. But that was understandable since she hadn’t been expected to compete in the event. It all worked out anyway with Biles’ floor exercise. The height she achieved on her tumbling passes was incredible.

France’s women fought hard and rose from seventh place to third. Edging out China for the bronze medal. Low difficulty scores on the vaults contributed to China failing to medal. Brazil walked away with the silver medal. It was their first team medal in either the world championships or Olympics.

Overall it wasn’t one of the women’s team best performances. Their qualifying scores were higher than their scores in the competition. But they performed well enough to take the title. In addition, the other teams also struggled and had uneven performances.

Regarding the men’s gymnastics team they came away with the bronze medal. It’s the first medal since 2014 to be won at the Olympics or world championships. Great Britain was the previous bronze medal winner but fell short by 2.967 points to the Americans. The U.S. is a young team but with a lot of potential.

Japan took the title from their rival, China. They edged out the reigning champions by 1.8 points. So it looks like the gymnastics competition in the Paris 2024 Olympics will be fire. And I’m here for all the smoke.
