Tush Push Will Not Be Banned Proposal Did Not Receive Required Number Of Votes
Just yesterday there was more hoopla surrounding the proposed tush push ban. The Green Bay Packers wanted to expand the ban to assisting runners in any situation. No pushing, pulling or assisting the runner in any fashion. Well the vote was taken today and the Packers were disappointed with the outcome. The tush push will not be banned as the proposal did not receive the required number of votes.
NFL owners voted against the ban proposal by a vote of 22-10. At least 24 votes were needed to get the approval but they fell short by 2 votes. As ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported, “Teams that sided with the Eagles included the Ravens, Patriots, Jets and Lions.” I think it’s surprising that so many teams were in favor of banning the tush push. It used to be said that if you don’t like what a team is doing then stop them. I guess some teams feel like they don’t have the ability to stop an effective play like the tush push.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Eagles Chairman Jeffrey Lurie brought former Eagles center Jason Kelce with him to the league meeting this morning. They went on to report that Kelce was there to lobby for keeping the “Tush Push” play alive. And that that Kelce’s presence might have made an impact since the ban didn’t receive enough votes. However, Kelce said on his podcast with his brother Travis:
“I’m just going to answer any questions people have about my partaking of this play. I don’t care whether it gets banned or not. At the end of the day, this is why you vote on things. If they vote to ban the ‘Tush Push,’ the Eagles are still gonna run quarterback sneak at a very high percentage.”

Obviously the Philadelphia Eagles were happy about the proposal failing. And they wasted no time in trolling the Green Bay Packers. Check out some of their posts on x.com here. They even posted a throwback of their most recent tush push which happened to be in Super Bowl LIX, sorry Kansas City. And they finished the job with a masterpiece of clips of different people weighing in on the play, classic. But even if you’re not an Eagles fan, you have to admit their level of pettiness is top-tier.
Therefore, the Eagles at the Packers game in Week 10 of 2025 should be electric. Last year the Eagles defeated the Packers 22-10, how ironic is that? At any rate, we’re happy the tush push will remain a part of the game… for now.
