Topps Announces LeBron James Special-Edition 23rd Season Jersey Patch—For Trading Cards

Now this is very cool. If you are a sports collector or just a huge fan of King James; you will want to keep today’s big news in mind. Late Monday afternoon, Topps announced the LeBron James Special-Edition 23rd Season Jersey Patch; a jersey embellishment that will eventually find its way into ultra-rare trading cards.

This special patch is due to LeBron continuing to cement his legacy as one of the greatest ballers in the history of the game. From not only becoming the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer, also having a 10+ points a game streak last for two decades; but now he’s STILL playing into his forties, fully demonstrating his athleticism and longevity.

What about this season? Well, so far for 2025-2026, his season stats show him averaging around 21.9 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.6 rebounds in roughly 33 minutes per game, with a strong ~51% field goal percentage. No wonder James is the first NBA player to reach 50,000 career points; and remains a core part of the Lakers offense.

Furthermore, with his son now playing in the league, fans can still see James dunking and lobbing like it’s nothing. Therefore, this is certainly an athlete that deserves his flowers and accolades. So then, to celebrate his career Topps is doing a little something to celebrate such an astounding career.

Before the start of the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers matchup, Topps heralded,

“BREAKING: LeBron James will wear a special-edition 23rd season jersey patch beginning tonight in Sacramento; the city where he began his legendary career in 2003.

The patches will be removed from his jersey after each game, and some will be placed into ultra-rare trading cards.”

Nice. LeBron James seemed just as excited about this announcement as his fans. And even wants to get his hands on some of these patches. He responded to Topps online stating, “Wow! Beyond cool and humbling as well! Need some of these for my own collection Topps!!! So dope.”

Well, we are sure Topps shall oblige. Nonetheless, one last piece of historic news regarding LeBron just in case you missed it. Just a couple days ago James officially recorded 3500 Lakers assists. This makes LeBron James just the 8th player in Lakers history to record 3500 assists with the franchise. Therefore, may we never take it for granted that we still get to watch James play; a true legend of the court.
