Tom Brady Still Proving He’s The GOAT

Football fans have long joked about Brady’s 40 yard dash at the 2000 NFL Combine. However, Tom Brady is still proving that he is the GOAT by using the 40 yard dash. Twenty-four years ago he ran an uninspiring 5.28 40 yard dash. And he looked slow doing it. Those combine images and videos haunted him throughout his amazing career. But he always took the teasing in stride, being able to laugh at himself. However, Peter Schrager of nfl.com, covering the NFL Combine, showed a training room where athletes can workout. The room is sponsored by NOBULL, the athletic clothing and footwear company. Tom Brady recently merged his TB12 nutrition brand with NOBULL.

At any rate, Brady saw Schrager’s video of the training room on social media platform X. He said, “Way to go @nobull. I would’ve ran a much faster 40 if we’d had this ” He followed up with a post of his own indicating he wanted to give the 40 yard dash one more shot. He invited everyone to make their predictions. The comments were plentiful with some people believing he could do better this time around. Others not so much. And to the naysayers he said, “You guys act like I don’t have 1,000 (career) rushing yards.” (Lamar Jackson rushed for 821 yards in 2023 just for context, lol.) Anyway he was ready to prove his critics wrong once again.

So this morning, he ran the 40 yard dash again and… improved his time! He posted the video on his X account. According to the two stopwatches used to time his run, it was either 5.18 or 5.12. Nevertheless, that’s a slight improvement over his original 5.28 time. Not too shabby for a 46 year old retired NFL quarterback. His competitive fire hasn’t died out and that is part of what made him a GOAT. Because now he’s claiming he will be sub 5.00 next year.

Of course I should mention that all of this was a promotional opportunity for the NOBULL brand. But it was a good idea, as millions of people watched the videos associated with the promotion. I’m sure the company is happy with all the exposure they’re getting. However, I would be even happier if he came back to the NFL for one more season and got ring number 8. Now that he’s faster than the speed of light, winning another Super Bowl shouldn’t be too difficult.

That’s not too much to ask, right?
