Tom Brady is good for football. Love him or hate him; he gets people talking and discussing GOAT stats probably faster than most individuals in sports history. Therefore, when you hear that Tom Brady is not opposed to returning to the NFL; of course, that would make any NFL fans’ ears perk up.
Just think about what kind of matchups this could possibly lead to… uhm… Mahomes vs Brady again anyone? Or additionally, it will just be interesting to see if can he do it. Can he make a comeback out of retirement and successfully dominate in the ways and high levels we are used to seeing him produce at?
Right off the bat, there’s a good chunk of the football nation that would easily shout, “yes.” The guy definitely left with some in the tank. However, others may point to his final season not going his way. The Buccaneers finished 8-9; but Brady still had a passer rating of 90.7 with 4694 yards. Also, there was a lot of divorce drama occurring during this time; so the guy had a lot on his mind. But truth be told; when an athlete wins seven championships you’re most likely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
However, what did Brady say to even make people think he’s interested in possibly playing? Well, during an episode of the DeepCut With VicBlends podcast Brady got candid. After being asked if he would pick up the phone due to calls from teams asking him to fill in for injured quarterbacks. Brady reveals,
“I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know … I’m always going to be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ coming back, I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

What’s the reason Brady possibly couldn’t come back? Ownership. Yes, Tom is expanding his empire working towards being a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. His bid is currently still on the table; but if finalized, he would no longer be eligible to play in the league.
Nonetheless, this is not the first time Brady has toyed with everyone’s feelings about a possible return. As FOX Sports reports,
“Last August, Brady took a selfie with his shirt off, still looking like he could get under center, saying he was ‘thinking about finding a training camp to show up to.’”
Therefore, it is on the man’s mind. He loves the game. He loves the competition. But for now he is in retirement and moving on to being around football in another way; as an owner.
