Tom Brady Inducted Into New England Patriots Hall of Fame

It was definitely a star-studded event as celebrities, NFL players and music artists all came together. They were there to celebrate the man whom many would call the GOAT. On this evening, Tom Brady was inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame.

Normally, a candidate must be four years removed from his playing/coaching career to be eligible for induction. However, Patriots owner Robert Kraft waived that requirement in Brady’s case. That isn’t surprising since during his 20 years with the team, Brady brought them six Super Bowls and one undefeated regular season. Among a host of many other accomplishments.

The induction ceremony featured a red carpet walked by many recognizable people. Brady’s parents, of course, made an appearance along with his sister Julie and her husband former baseball player Kevin Youkilis. Also seen were Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski, and Jon Bon Jovi. Just about every player he played with was present for the ceremony. And Gillette Stadium, where the ceremony was held, was packed with over 60,000 fans in attendance. It looked like the attendance for an actual game.

After a montage video clip of plays, comedian Bill Burr did an opening monologue reminiscing about the Patriots ascension. Following was a video of Brady’s parents and sisters talking about their family and relationship with Brady. Mike Tirico then brought Brady to the stage for a sit-down interview.

Rob Ninkovich and Patrick Chung spoke about Brady’s competitiveness. Then Vince Wilfork, Ty Law, Devin McCourty, and Willie McGinest joined Brady and Tirico on stage discussing what it was like to be teammates.

Greats such as Jason Taylor, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Michael Strahan, Eli Manning, Richard Sherman, and Charles Woodson all sent congratulatory video messages. Peyton Manning then made a special guest appearance on the stage and talked about his and Brady’s relationship on and off the field.

Other Boston sports greats sent video messages as well such as David Ortiz, Paul Pierce, Patrice Bergeron and Taylor Twellman. Also, sportscasters Jim Nantz, Chris Berman, Rich Eisen, Al Michaels, and Joe Buck offered their video congratulations.

After a second Bill Burr skit, they brought out Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Wes Welker. All of them talked about Brady’s competitiveness and how he made them better. Musical entertainment was provided by Kenny Chesney who performed “The Boys of Fall”.

Then Deion Branch and Troy Brown introduced Bill Belichick who gave a speech easily rattling off some of Brady’s greatest plays. He also pointed out how Brady was great at keeping the team out of bad situations, not a lot of fumbles, interceptions, etc. He thanked Brady for all he had done for him, the team, and for the community.

Next up was Robert Kraft who explained his reason for the hall of fame exception. He didn’t think the half-time celebration from last season was enough. So he waived the four year waiting period to have a grand celebration for Brady now. In between Kraft’s speech was a narration by Neil de Grasse Tyson with pictures of space talking about Brady being 1:1,000,000,000.

Kraft then officially retired Brady’s number, 12. And he revealed that a 12′ tall bronze statue will be unveiled this season. It will be located outside the Patriots Hall of Fame. He then introduced Brady and presented him with the red hall of fame jacket.

Finally, Brady gave his speech and thanked as many people as he could. He got emotional thanking the offensive linemen who protected him over the years. Consistency he said was important along with teamwork. Brady was very proud of the fact that the Patriots were the first team to take the field not as individuals. But as a single unit and history will never forget that. Because that’s how all teams are introduced now. He wrapped up by saying, “I am Tom Brady and I am a Patriot.”

Patriots Host Spectacular Hall of Fame Ceremony

It was indeed a grand affair as Robert Kraft had hoped it would be. As some of his former teammates said, no one could bring that many people together for the occasion except Brady. He has enamored not only New England but the whole nation.

Will another football player garner this sort of fame and fanfare again? Only time will tell but for now the legend of the GOAT will be forever enshrined in the Patriots Hall of Fame.
