Tokyo Series Dodgers Vs Cubs Game 2–LA Wins Again!
LA won the exciting season opener on Tuesday, 4-1; an impressive showing despite missing powerhouses Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in the lineup. However, Chicago would have a chance to answer back just 24 hours later; and see if they could get their first win of the season. It was another thrilling battle; but in the end Los Angeles would be the victors of the Tokyo Series Dodgers Vs Cubs Game 2.
This second game of the LA/Chicago matchup had another treat for baseball fans. The debut of Los Angeles pitcher, Roki Sasaki. Roki discussed his feelings about taking to the field to pitch for the first time as a MLB player at the Tokyo Dome. How it’s been a lifelong dream for him; and that he is a little nervous. Sasaki reveals,
“I thought about this since I was in school. But me back then would never have expected to be making my debut at Tokyo Dome. There were lots of times when things didn’t go well after turning pro. Through all that, I had tremendous support which helped me a great deal. I hope I can repay everyone who I owe through my performances.
But with each day, the tension mounts towards the day I pitch. I hope I can erase any worries and be ready. I’m not doing anything differently as far as my routine or preparation is concerned. But the team workouts are different so I just try to control what I can, when I can.”
However, nerves didn’t seem to be a problem at all once Wednesday’s game got under way… well, at first. For the Cubs or Dodgers. In the first inning Chicago’s starting pitcher Justin Steele easily retires three batters. Whereas Roki Sasaki’s first few pitches were clocked at 100MPH and he too had a 1-2-3 inning.
However, the second inning would be a much different story. Steele would allow the Dodgers to quickly strike twice. He walks to the dugout with the scoreboard reading 2-0. Roki Sasaki takes the mound; after a couple of scary walks, he’s able to work a double play allowing the Dodgers to keep the lead.
Tokyo Series Dodgers Vs Cubs Game 2
In the third inning the Dodgers continue their scoring ways. Tommy Edman hits the first home run of 2025. A fly ball to left field. It’s now 3-0. However, Sasaki’s debut continues to get a bit rocky. Roki Sasaki begins to struggle with his command. After 3 consecutive walks, he walks in a run. But he gets out of the inning with just the one score. It’s 3-1.
And in the fourth the current World Champions just keep on adding on and dominating. Enrique Hernandez hits a homer of his own making it 5-1. But the Cubs make it interesting and rally another run of their own in the bottom of the 4th.
Moving to the top of the fifth the Dodgers strike AGAIN. Shohei Ohtani hits his first home run of the season (didn’t look to have enough gas, but upon review was ruled a homer). But Chicago continues to battle! Dansby Swanson doubles on a line drive to left fielder Michael Conforto allowing Matt Shaw to score. So the scoreboard changes yet again. It is 6-3, the Dodgers still in full control.
And that’s the way it would stay. Dodgers win the game and the Tokyo Series. They are still looking really good after winning a World Series.
Moreover, the blue men get to enjoy a nice 2-0 start to the 2025 season. Next up for the Dodgers? They’ll have a week to prepare for the Tigers.
