Don’t say it… don’t say it… RING CHASING! We’re kidding. Actually, with all the injuries that the Lions are dealing with, this is a very nice move for them. Pro Bowler and Tight End Zach Ertz is signing with the Detroit Lions; thus opening up a chance and possibility for Ertz to win a second ring.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has been a very busy man; but took a moment to share some intel on this developing story. Pelissero reveals,
“Three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz is signing with the Lions, per sources.
Ertz will start out on the practice squad, with plans to potentially elevate him for the NFC Championship Game. A boost for the final stretch.
Detroit lost No. 2 tight end Brock Wright to a forearm injury Sunday. Now they add Ertz, who reunites with his former TEs coach from Arizona, Steve Heiden, and should be able to get up to speed quickly.”

Its been a fun and magical season for the Lions. During the regular season, they go 12-5 and get one of the monkeys off their back. Finally making the playoffs after more than 20 years. Moreover, with Detroit now being just one win from making a Super Bowl; the stakes have never been higher. Therefore, making the decision to go grab Zach Ertz makes perfect sense.
Nevertheless, teams like the Lions being in the SB mix is also just great for sports, and great for the NFL.
