Tigers Scored NINE Runs in 7th Inning to Take Series Opener Against Yankees
On a night when Aaron Judge made history, the Tigers took a humongous bite out of the Big Apple and left no crumbs. Every single Tigers hitter scored in one inning; exposing New York’s bullpen while also blowing the game wide open. Yes, the Detroit Tigers scored NINE runs in the 7th inning to take the series opener against the Yankees.
The Tigers tied it up in the top of the fifth. Then really made their presence known in the seventh. Detroit scored EIGHT runs in the seventh inning before the Yankees recorded a single out.
The Tigers’ PR Communications team revealed through social media how Tuesday’s game against New York fits into the franchise’s legacy. They mention,
“Tonight’s nine-run seventh inning marks the second time this year (3rd inning vs. Boston on May 12) in which we have scored nine runs in a single inning.
It is the first time a Tigers team has had multiple nine-run innings in a single season since 2008 (4).”
Historically, each year the Yankees have been a team that can amass enough victories to enjoy winning seasons. In fact, the last time the Yankees ended a season with a losing record was in 1992. Interestingly, they entered last night’s game against the Tigers 80-63, 1 win shy of clinching a 33rd straight season of .500 or better. However, last night would not be their night.

Detroit had other plans for NY. They snatched the glory from Judge’s Yogi Berra accomplishment and the Yankees organization’s above .500 aspirations. However, this is just how good the Detroit Tigers have been all season; building off of last year. They have been one of the dominant teams in not only the American League but in all of baseball.
With a record of 83-62 they are at least 8.5 games ahead of any team in their division (AL Central). And have the second best record in the AL in general. Which places them at the fourth best record in the entire league.
Therefore, the Tigers are most likely headed to the playoffs. And with their impressive performance and comeback; they could make a deep run. We can’t wait to see if they do in October.
