Phoenix Suns Jalen Green Suffers a Hamstring Injury Against the Los Angeles Clippers

Suns Jalen Green Exits Clippers Matchup With Apparent Hamstring Injury

Coming back from injury can be TOUGH. And unfortunately in sports you always can run the risk of potentially becoming injured yet again. Saturday evening a young talent on the Suns faced this very scenario. The Phoenix Suns Jalen Green suffers a hamstring injury against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Jalen went down very early in the Suns matchup versus LA. Green suffered the injury on a drive with just over 40 seconds left in the first quarter. He pulled up short appearing to strain his leg and was left limping for the remainder of the possession. Green left the court after scoring two points in seven minutes Saturday night during his second game with the Suns. He was later ruled out.

This is not Jalen’s first rodeo dealing with this particular health issue and condition. Regarding Jalen Green the NBA confirmed,

“Green made his Phoenix debut Thursday with 29 points in the Suns’ win over the Clippers in Arizona.

Phoenix acquired Green from Houston in the seven-team megatrade that sent Kevin Durant to the Rockets last summer (Kevin Durant was the centerpiece of that massive trade, with the Rockets sending Green, Dillon Brooks and future draft picks in exchange for Durant); but [Green] missed their first eight games. He injured his hamstring in training camp, and he aggravated the injury during the Suns’ preseason trip to China.”

Jalen will undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury. And it will surprise no one if Green ends up needing to miss time. So far, Jalen has been ruled out for Monday’s game against New Orleans. With the 23-year-old shooting guard sidelined, Jordan Goodwin and Collin Gillespie are being tapped as candidates for increased minutes. Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, on X, says Green is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks:

“He will get imaging likely tomorrow and I would expect 4-6 weeks out. Interesting but 33% of all hamstring injuries in the NBA get re aggravated – tough injury.”

Nevertheless, there is a silver lining for Phoenix. They still have the fight and talent to combat adversity such as team injuries. Case in point the ending to Saturday’s game. Despite Green’s early exit, the Suns were still able to score a win against the Clippers, 114-103, with Devin Booker (21 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists) leading the charge. Phoenix improved to 5-5 after the victory.
