Steph Curry Ankle Injury Update: Will Be Re-Evaluated Friday and Miss 2 Games

The Warriors and their fans have been holding their breath and for good reason. The season has just begun and an injury to the best player on the team is quite the blow. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and a Steph Curry ankle injury update.

After examination it looks as though Curry has aggravated tendons behind his ankle. And is now working through a left peroneal strain. According to Cleveland Clinic this involves, inflammation in one or both of the tendons that connect your lower leg to your foot. It’s usually due to overusing the tendons, but it can also be the result of a sudden injury such as an ankle sprain. Pain and swelling in your peroneal tendons usually go away after several weeks of conservative treatments. These tough bands of tissue connect the muscles in your lower leg to the bones in your foot. They help stabilize and balance your foot and ankle.
ESPN’s Shams Charania provided confirmation on the injury mentioning,
“Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has sustained a left peroneal strain and will be re-evaluated on Friday, source tells ESPN.”
Additionally, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater revealed intel on how this all now will affect Curry being on the court. As most previously assumed, Steph will miss games. Slater says,
“Steph Curry will miss the Warriors’ next two games against the Pelicans after his ankle sprain last night, I’m told. No structural damage. Evaluated again Friday prior to five-game road trip.”

Hopefully, Friday’s evaluation will result in a positive and favorable outcome. Nevertheless, Curry is not the only injury that the Warriors are currently dealing with at this time. The franchise is getting hit with the injury bug early this season.

NBC Sports’ Monte Poole reports, “Per Warriors: Stephen Curry (Left ankle) and De’Anthony Melton (lower back) will miss the back-to-back set against the New Orleans Pelicans and be reevaluated Friday in advance of Golden State’s five-game road trip.”
No doubt the Warriors hope to have Curry and Melton back in action soon. After the Pelicans, the team will face the Rockets, Wizards, Celtics, Cavaliers and Thunder.
