Steelers Takedown Vikings in Week Four International Dublin Ireland Matchup

NFL Fantasy owners of Pittsburgh’s defense got an early present filled to the brim with QB sacks on Sunday as the Steelers took down the Vikings during the week four international Dublin Ireland matchup. The Vikings at first seemed to have no answer or much of a response to the Steelers commanding overseas performance. Pittsburgh ran the ball down Minnesota’s throats with their RB weapon, Kenneth Gainwell, who scored two touchdowns by the third quarter. Scoring one during the first quarter from one yard out; and his second with two minutes and change to go in the third.

Moreover, it is Kenneth Gainwell’s second TD that really demonstrated his tenacity and athleticism. He finished off a short Steelers drive with a four-yard score. However, he had carried on the Steelers’ final four plays of that drive, gaining 27 yards. Literally, putting his team on his back, pushing towards victory; making it 21-6 Pittsburgh with 2:23 left in the third.

Besides a great running game plan; Pittsburgh was also able to take advantage of Minnesota’s numerous mistakes. They created a plethora of turnovers and had quarterback Carson Wentz absolutely rattled till the fourth. For instance, in the third quarter during one drive alone, Wentz met grass and was sacked at least three times.

The Vikings’ quarterback had Steelers coming at him from every direction. Leading to fumbles as well as multiple interceptions. And his inability to really get into rhythm for much of the game.

But, in the fourth quarter came a glimmer of hope for Minnesota. These Warriors would not see Valhalla just yet. Wentz and company marched down the field scoring not only a touchdown but managed a successful two point conversion. Dwindling the Steelers lead down to 10.

Scoring one touchdown was obviously a confidence boost. Since the Vikings scored another just minutes later thanks to an eye-popping 81-yard completion to Jordan Addison; then Carson Wentz finding Jalen Nailor for a 2-yard TD. Making this matchup finally very interesting and cutting the Steelers lead to just 3.

Yet in the end, the Steelers defense led by the likes of TJ Watts (who got his first interception of the season); proved to be too overwhelming for the Vikings. The Vikings had a chance to win or at least tie up the game. But in the final minute of regulation, Carson Wentz was picked off by James Pierre and that was all she wrote.

Therefore, the second international game of the 2025 NFL season had plenty of drama and action. With two 2-1 teams battling it out. But the Steelers would leave the land of the Emerald Isle victorious, defeating Minnesota 21-24.
