Steelers Tackle the Titans In A Thursday Night Clash

After their 20-10 loss to the Jaguars, the Steelers got back to winning. They tackled the Titans in a Thursday night clash that had lots of action. Titans Rookie QB Will Levis got his second NFL start. Everyone knows how much Steeler Nation loves their football team. So Acrisure Stadium was quite the hostile environment for the quarterback. Yet that didn’t affect the youngster at all. For the most part he kept his cool and played pretty well.

Of course Levis’ performance was not perfect. He had some throws I’m sure he wishes he could have back. But he also dropped some dimes right into his receivers hands. Some of his throws were too high and some were dropped by the receivers.

As they continue working together and getting used to each other they may be able to get things going. They came close to pulling out the victory last night. However, an ill-advised throw by Levis was intercepted by Kwon Alexander, the only turnover in the whole game.

The Steelers defense was in Levis’ face all night. They didn’t often allow him too much time to throw the ball. Harassing the Titans receivers was also a big part of their game plan. As for the Steelers offense it was pretty basic. However, the Titans defense was missing tackles left and right. They took strange tackling angles causing them to miss making tackles at all.

For some reason both teams had a few too many slow developing trick plays. Neither team fell for most of the trick plays that were called. For instance, Levis faked a hand-off to Henry, ran to the side, and then threw the ball back to Henry. Henry caught it but the Steelers were all over it and they lost a yard on the play.

Overall the game was competitive if not a bit sloppy. But the referees decided to hold a penalty party which really bogged down the game. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Levis. He didn’t get rattled and he had some very good passes.

This week the Jaguars, 49ers, Lions, and Broncos are on a bye. Also the Dolphins and Chiefs will be playing in Frankfurt, Germany at Deutsche Bank Park. Both teams have a 6-2 record so the outcome could affect playoff standings down the road. One other highly anticipated game is the Cowboys @ Eagles. This division rivalry should be an exciting game.
