Stacy Wakefield the Widow of Red Sox Pitcher Tim Wakefield Passes Away
This is just devastating news. We are very sad to disclose that Stacy Wakefield the widow of Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield passes away just 5 months after her husband. Leaving behind their two children.
Both Stacy and Tim had been intensely battling illness simultaneously. It wasn’t easy, especially, due to them dealing with two different types of cancer and varying challenges. Nevertheless, they did their best; being there for each other as much as possible till the very end. Tim sorrowfully loses his battle first. Mr. Wakefield died in October of 2023 after suffering a seizure following surgery for brain cancer. He was 57.
Stacy continued to fight on with all of her strength, for her children, family and friends. Sadly, the widow of the late Red Sox legend Tim Wakefield, also loses her fight from pancreatic cancer on Tuesday. Surrounded by those close to her, as well as her family at her home in Massachusetts.

In regards to her passing, the loved ones of Stacy Wakefield put out the statement:
“It is with deep sadness that we share that our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt, Stacy, passed away today at her home in Massachusetts. She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, as well as her wonderful caretakers and nurses. The loss is unimaginable, especially in the wake of losing Tim just under five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken.
We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as they come. We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life
We would like to thank all of Stacy’s doctors, nurses and caretakers who helped her from diagnosis to today-we are eternally grateful for your unmatched care and support. And to all of you who have sent well wishes over these last several months, we truly appreciate your kindness.
We kindly ask for privacy at this time as we try to process this profound loss.”
A Devastating Loss
It is always so difficult at times like this to formulate thoughts. It’s hard to know exactly what to say, what to convey. For us, the best thing is to remember individuals for their actions, wonderful qualities and impact on others and their community.
Boston Red Sox manager, Alex Cora, had some very kind and respectful remarks about Tim and his beautiful wife, Stacy. Cora says,
“Tough day … They were so big for us, not only on the field but off the field. She was very strong. She was there for him and now we’re here for the kids and that’s the most important thing.”
John Tomase a Red Sox reporter for NBC SPORTS Boston additionally provides classy and polite comments regarding the Wakefields. Tomase states,
“The death of Stacy Wakefield just months after her husband, Tim, is devastating. A power couple in local philanthropic circles, and now they’re both gone. Thoughts to their two children amidst this unspeakable loss.”
Yes, both Tim and Stacy left an indelible mark on those that met them or knew them from afar. They were caring, they were pillars of strength. May they now rest, as our hearts and thoughts go out to their children and loved ones.
