Spectrum Loses ESPN +Other Sports Channels-Kicking Off College Football
Every college football lover was met with quite a surprise when going to watch the Florida Gators versus Utah game. Fans flip on their televisions just to find out that Spectrum loses ESPN along with a number of other sports networks. Not cool.
First of all, this situation is not ideal. Many prefer cable so that they do not have to worry about their internet connection. Additionally, some sort of warning of this outcome should have been issued. On the part of Walt Disney and Spectrum. Yet, neither gave their customers a heads up. Crazy.
Also, this problem is due to greed. This year, Spectrum and Disney both experience quarters (Q2); raking in over $1 Billion right before this ESPN issue. Therefore, where is the deal? Why are fans without college football?
Despite going up on prices football fans are without:
- ESPN
- ESPN 2
- FX
- FX Movie Channel
- ESPN U
- ESPN News
- FXX
- NAT GEO
- Plus 10+ Other Channels
Spectrum Loses ESPN +Other Sports Channels-Kicking Off College Football
Being without such networks is absolutely ridiculous for sports fans. These fans purchase these channels and packages way in advance in order to enjoy the games that they love. So then, how did fans find out that they will have to search for other options to watch college football games?
Spectrum users were greeted by a static page on various sports channels not available. The message reads as:
“The Walt Disney Company, the owner of this channel; has removed their programming from Spectrum which creates hardship for our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience and are continuing to negotiate in good faith in order to reach a fair agreement.
Our negotiations are about one thing— reaching an agreement that is fair to our customers. We understand this is an inconvenience and hope to return this programming soon. We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to continuing to serve you.

In case fans miss this message on TV, Spectrum also hit up customers online via social media. On Twitter aka “X”… Spectrum states:
“The Walt Disney Company has removed their programming from Spectrum. Spectrum is on your side and fighting hard to resolve this situation and keep costs down while protecting and maximizing customer choice. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Inconvenience… understatement of the year! Nevertheless, hopefully this issue is resolved quickly and soon.
